We all remember the Table Rock Fire in Boise. In 2016, a man lit a roman candle and burned 2600 acres before fire officials put out the fire. The man was responsible for the costs of suppression and damage of that fire. It cost nearly $400,000. That's not something that you want to be responsible for so... hers is a quick breakdown.

Illegal and Legal Fireworks

Idaho Code title 39 chapter 26 spells out the firework laws in Idaho. Aerial fireworks can be sold but not used in Idaho. If you buy aerial fireworks in Idaho you will have to sign a waiver saying you wont use them within the state. So they are not to be used. But...there is no easy way to enforce this law. Once you leave the stand, there is hardly any oversight from Police for using them on your own property. So this makes it , and gives others the impression that these fireworks are legal. But, they are not. Fireworks are illegal if they are delivered or used aerially.

The reason that areal fireworks are illegal in Idaho is mainly due to the huge fire danger they pose. Safe and sane (legal) fireworks are manufactured to specifications which limit the scope of danger of fire to 20 feet in diameter. But areal fireworks have a scope far greater.

When and where to use fireworks

When and were you use fireworks is also important to know. Local ordinances specify the specific dates and times you can use fireworks in your celebrations. Follow these guidelines.

But, its also important to remember where you celebrate. For instance, the B.L.M. land is federal and has its own rules and regulations. Its strictly prohibited to possess or light off fireworks on B.L.M. land regardless if its areal or not. State forests or lands may also have their own regulations prohibiting the use of fireworks.

Liability

Dozens Arrested In NYC For Illegal Fireworks, Guns, Alligator ...You can be given a fine for any illegal firework use, but the more important thing to consider is the restitution. You can be liable for the costs from damage concerning your illegal firework use. That includes injuries, property damage, or cost of supervision of fires and or suppression of the fires caused by your conduct.

How to be safer?

Here are some quick tips

1. Be aware. Don't light fireworks where there is significant debris or accelerates around like gasoline, propane, chet grass, or small twigs.

2. Keep water nearby-Have a bucket of water nearby in case a fire starts.

3. Say within the guidelines. The rules are made for a reason. Simply follow the guidelines as
